Q: Hello - We just noticed an open sore about the size of a quarter on the back of my husband's calf. He doesn't remember an injury, but did say that it was similar to a keratosis (dry and scaley spot) before it turned into an open sore. We do not have a dermatologist. He has BCBS and I don't think he needs a referral. Would appreciate any recommendations you could offer. Thank you, Linda

A: Hi Linda, I would have your husband see his primary care physician as soon as possible so that he can be referred to a dermatologist.
